Hello followers! I couldn't post any pictures yesterday because I could barely walk but now the swelling's gone down, check out my new tattoo! It's only half complete (I've got something to go onto the other foot yet) but look!
So, as everyone knows I am a really big fan of the Harry Potter books, and I am also a big fan of tattoos. So I thought I'd like to get something that would represent my appreciation for them without it looking too obvious. As everyone who is thinking of getting a tattoo should do, I did extensive research for about 6 months and discovered a Facebook group which had loads of fan's photos with various tattoos dedicated to Harry Potter. Most of them were of golden snitches, wands, characters and quotes but I knew I wanted something that wasn't so blatantly obvious it was dedicated to Harry Potter. I decided to take a quote from the third book, because this is the book that I made me realise just how much of a fan I knew I would become. I also chose this quote because it uses no characters' names, so only fellow fans who notice it will be able to understand where it's taken from. I also wanted to use two symbols that represented not only things from the books, but things that are personal to me.
In the end I decided on an Owl on my right foot, and a Stag on my left foot. This is because they represent wisdom and strength - two qualities which I hold in high value, but also because they are both key elements in the books.
I got tattooed at Red Sea Tattoo on Oxford Road, Manchester by Dan Morris, who incidentally, did one of my tattoos in Hereford when I was 17. I know I can trust him to do an amazing job and his drawings / tattoo portfolio are just breathtaking. It took just over two hours, and it was incredibly painful in places! Surprisingly the top of my ankle wasn't bad at all but the insides of my foot were awful - my foot kept spasming because it's so sensitive and I was scared I was going to accidentally kick Dan in the face. Luckily I didn't though...
I have to wait another month or so until the Stag is drawn up and ready to be done, but I'm healing really well (with the help of a huge tube of bepanthen) Here is my completed right foot! I can't stop looking at it, it's so beautiful. Big thanks to Dan at Red Sea for drawing this up for me and making it an enjoyable experience!
Very pretty my darling...can't wait until I book in for mine.....(not) lol
ReplyDeleteVery funny image in my head from earlier on, next door's puppy Buddy was burrowing in the veg patch whilst they had gone out and all I could see from Georgina's bedroom window was a little bottom and tail poking up from the corner he was about 2/3rds of the way down. Maybe he was trying to dig up Beauty or Jack???
who the bloody hell are beauty and jack?!
