Back To It...

After having A LOT of holiday owed from work and finally getting around to taking it, I'm back at work. I had a fab time off travelling around the north and visiting my friends. I managed to get a couple of extra horse riding lessons in as well as LOTS of shopping. I forgot how much I love Manchester and Bolton and it was lovely seeing so many familiar faces. I got to catch up with Laura, Gabs and Fay over lunch on Deansgate which was lovely (even if Laura did manage to blind us all with her engagement ring) and had a great couple of days shopping with Fay. Hopped across to Bolton on the bus for movie night and tea with Garfield then we went into Bolton for lunch and MORE shopping the next day. The train journey home was a looooooong one (but I had Harry Potter audiobooks to keep me company) and I was in bed at 9.15pm so that shows how pooped I was. Had a nice day yesterday with Mummy having a Starbucks and a look around town (even TKMaxx - ick!) And it's back to work today! I found out I've got a few days off in a couple of weeks as well as my week off in March where I'll be going on a European road trip with my K-dub! So lots to look forward to.

It's good to be home.

Happy Birthday Rosie!

Today is my good friend Rosie's 23rd birthday. Happy Birthday Rosie! Hope it was amazing. xx

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

Okay so I know I've been banging on about it quite a lot on my Twitter lately, but it really is THAT good. So I'm going to bang on about it some more. After hearing about a year ago that Emma Watson was going to be playing a girl called Sam in the film adaptation of a book, I thought to myself 'Hmmm, maybe it's worth a read' seeing as how ALL books are better than the film. So I finally got around to buying it after having it sitting in my Amazon basket for about 6 months and all I can say is WOW. I didn't know how much I'd be able to get into it as it's a male narrative but I literally cannot put into words how beautiful it is. It's definitely targetted at younger audiences and I think it's something boys would enjoy reading as well as girls. For a first novel, I think Stephen Chbosky has done a fantastic job (well I would have thought so, considering how its been made into a Hollywood film.) The voice is that of a sensitive, intelligent, fifteen year old boy, who is just so captivating and beautiful. I finished it in three days! Check out the overview below...

'Charlie is a freshman. And while he's not the biggest geek in the school, he is by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent beyond his years yet socially awkward, he is a wallflower, caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it. Charlie is attempting to navigate his way through uncharted territory: the world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends; the world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite. But Charlie can't stay on the sideline forever. Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a deeply affecting coming-of-age story that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up.'

Next stop...The Great Gatsby!

Mmmmmmacarons

Might make some of these this week. It's been so long since I've baked anything I think I need a baking day. So far I've attempted chocolate macarons and rose macarons. Maybe thinking lemon this time?

I Went To Topshop...

...and it was good. Check out all the bits I got this weekend in Manchester. I LOVE them. Pastels are very on trend for Spring so I opted for this mint green cricket jumper so I can tie in the pastel trend whilst keeping warm!

I also bought 2 pairs of jeans; one of which I've been lusting after for a good few weeks now. The 'Kristen' high waisted jeans are a perfect cut for any pear shape. Just the right amount of stretch in them without going baggy at the knees / waist. I have them in grape as well but this camel colour is going to be a wardrobe staple for Spring I think!
I also bought a TOTALLY summery pair of ankle grazer jeans (although to be honest I think they're long enough to wear as normal jeans.) The floral pattern on them will look amazing with a pastel cardi and black vest, a definite statement piece for Spring.

And last but not least, I got these gorgeous silky shorts (for those warmer months of course.) I've got an engagement party in March so I think these will definitely be making their debut then. I love the zip detailing at the front, and even though they're high waisted, they are also long enough in the leg so that your bum cheeks don't hang out (because trust me, that's never a good look.) Think I'm going to team it up with a little jacket and chunky gold jewellery.

When God Was A Rabbit

So I've just finished reading Sarah Winmans 'When God Was A Rabbit' and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's been a while since I read a book so quickly and I really struggled to put it down before bed at night. It's definitely one of those 'Just one more chapter...' kind of books. You will laugh, cry and everything in between. Go and read it! Now!

 Here's the synopsis;

'1968. The year Paris takes to the streets. The year Martin Luther King loses his life for a dream. The year Eleanor Maud Portman is born.

Young Elly's world is shaped by those who inhabit it: her loving but maddeningly distractible parents; a best friend who smells of chips and knows exotic words like 'slag'; an ageing fop who tapdances his way into her home, a Shirley Bassey impersonator who trails close behind; lastly, of course, a rabbit called God. In a childhood peppered with moments both ordinary and extraordinary, Elly's one constant is her brother Joe.

Twenty years on, Elly and Joe are fully grown and as close as they ever were. Until, that is, one bright morning when a single, earth-shattering event threatens to destroy their bond forever.

Spanning four decades and moving between suburban Essex, the wild coast of Cornwall and the streets of New York, this is a story about childhood, eccentricity, the darker side of love and sex, the pull and power of family ties, loss and life. More than anything, it's a story about love in all its forms.'

New Kiehls Treats

Well, I'm back from Manchester after a super fun weekend and I have some new Kiehls products, hooray! I love Kiehls skincare products, but it's only something I can buy once in a while because it's super expensive. (But worth every penny.) This weekend I got the Ultra Facial Cleanser and Toner (I already have the moisturiser.)

I love that they're alcohol free products so don't strip your skin of natural oils or leave it feeling tights like some cleansers and toners do.Both products are PH Balancing with Apricot Kernel Oil and Avocado oil so leave your skin silky and soft as well as super clean.

I'd definitely recommend their products (but make sure you get testers first in case you're allergic to any of the ingredients!) Check out the website at www.kiehls.co.uk
